The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will start chip seal pavement preservation work along roadways in the Buckeye area. The project schedule is as follows:
-
Buckeye Area Roadways: From 1 May through 7 May 2025, including:
-
Southern Avenue between Rainbow Road and Dean Road
-
207th Avenue between MC85 and Beloat Road
-
Perryville Road between Southern Avenue and MC85
-
Work will take place on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., with no construction anticipated on weekends or public holidays.
The chip seal treatment is designed to protect and extend the lifespan of existing pavements by sealing surface cracks, shielding against UV damage, and improving overall driving surfaces. The project also includes re-striping and pavement marking as well as site clean-up. Chip seal application combines small aggregate (rocks) and an asphalt binder that is rolled out to create a level surface texture. The treatment is used to address aging pavement with cracked surfaces. Pavement Management | Maricopa County, AZ
Motorists should expect temporary lane closures with pilot cars guiding traffic through work zones. Delays are possible, and drivers are encouraged to slow down, follow all posted signs, and use caution around construction crews.
The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment availability, or other unforeseen circumstances.
