The Arizona Department of Game and Fish has awarded the Joe Foss Shooting Complex a $48,500 grant to fund facility improvements. The city will match the grant with an additional $48,500 and contribute another $53,000 in no-match funds, bringing the total project budget to $150,000.
Planned upgrades include reopening two archery ranges, expanding parking access, improving shooting stations, and adding a pergola, seating areas, picnic tables, signage, and training equipment.
“The objective is to provide the community with a safe, secure and encouraging facility for all to practice and enjoy archery,” the proposal states.
The enhancements may pave the way for partnerships with local high schools and competitive archery organizations to host tournaments at the complex. The project is expected to be completed in fiscal year 2026.
