QT employee receives Community Member Lifesaving Award

Sergio, a clerk at the Quick Trip on Miller Rd., was given the Community Member Lifesaving Award from Buckeye Police Department for his assistance in saving two lives.

On July 26, BPD Officer R. Brown was the first to arrive on scene at the QT where two men were overdosing in a vehicle. Sergio assisted the responding officer in providing emergency care.

"He didn't even hesitate for a second, jumped right in," said Brown in a video posted by BPD. "I believe that he truly assisted in saving not one but two lives that day."

"When I got on scene, I saw officer Brown conducting CPR and I saw the QT clerk checking for a pulse on the second subject," said Officer C. Carrico, second to arrive, in the video. "He was spot on with helping."

Sergio continued to provide aid by retrieving Carrico's Narcan from her vest. Narcan is a medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose, carried by BPD officers who are often the first to arrive on scene. Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department arrived soon after.
