Buckeye City Council recognized state legislators at its Nov. 4 regular meeting for their ongoing service and partnership on policy issues throughout the previous year.
"On behalf of the City of Buckeye, thank you to our legislators for your accessibility, your problem solving and for standing in the arena with us on water, housing, public safety and transportation," said John Raeder, the city's chief government affairs officer. "We look forward to continuing this work and continuing to dare greatly together in the session ahead."
Present for the recognition were Arizona State House representatives Michael Carbone (R-25), Nick Kupper (R-25) and Mariana Sandoval (D-25). Republican Senator Tim Dunn was also given a plaque, though was not present. Raeder referred to several legislative actions in the past year including those related to food tax policy, improved sober living home oversight and securing funding to improve transportation.
"We greatly appreciate every single one of you," said Mayor Eric Orsborn. "We're not going to agree on everything, but each and every single one of you have worked toward finding some kind of compromise to making good things happen, not only for the city of Buckeye but for the state of Arizona and that's incredibly important."
