Catalyst Program to Attract Private Investment for Building Rehabilitation
Buckeye’s award-winning Catalyst Program will begin accepting applications on Thursday, August 1. This redevelopment initiative, managed by Buckeye’s Economic Development Department, aims to revitalize existing buildings by attracting private investment.
The Catalyst Program offers property owners, businesses, and investors up to $50,000 in reimbursable funding for projects that focus on economic development and serve a public benefit. Qualifying projects include building facades, landscaping, lighting, and
new or upgraded signage.
To be eligible, business owners must also contribute financially to their projects. Reimbursements are provided upon successful completion and submission of required documentation. The grant is open to any existing local business.
Celebrating its tenth year, the Catalyst Program has delivered significant results:
- $950,000 paid to qualifying businesses
- $1.7 million in private investment
- Over $2.65 million in total investment
- Two-to-one return on investment
In the last four years, 27 businesses have benefited from the program. One notable project is Snap Fitness's relocation from a small strip mall to a more prominent, freestanding location at 9th Street and Monroe Avenue. The new location, a 1930 historical building previously used as a church, was redeveloped with the support of the Catalyst Program.
