Buckeye council to decide on airport, parks and public safety projects

The Buckeye City Council will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. The meeting is in the City Council Chambers. The agenda has 28 consent items and one regular item. You can find the agenda one the city website.

Consent agenda overview

Items marked with an asterisk will be voted on together unless a council member asks to pull them.

  • Airport: The city will consider FAA and ADOT grants for runway and taxiway upgrades at Buckeye Municipal Airport. The council will also vote on extending the Skydive Buckeye and Desert Petroleum lease through October 31, 2026.
  • Parks and events: Council will review a new book themed playground at Kell Park. It will also consider contracts for special event equipment and expanded printing and apparel services.
  • Development: A minor subdivision for Sidney Village at Yuma and Apache is on the agenda. Two final plats for Ventana Ranch South are also up for approval.
  • Public safety: Items include a state grant for a fentanyl sensing robot, a federal school safety grant, a request for four new officers to focus on human trafficking and domestic violence, funding for a detective and related equipment, opioid settlement participation, and a request for 60 BolaWrap devices.
  • Fire and medical: The city seeks a FEMA SAFER grant to hire 15 firefighters for Victory Fire Station 709. Another FEMA request asks for locking caps on fire department connections and standpipes.
  • Transportation: Council will consider a grant to widen Miller Road, a contract to repair pavement in Verrado, and a Valley Metro amendment to keep routes 563 and 685 running through June 2026.
  • Water and utilities: Items include electrical contracts, maintenance and repair supplies, annual well rehabilitation, and a property agreement tied to the Sonoran Ridge water facility sale.
  • General government: The agenda also includes change orders for plan review services and routine contract approvals.

Regular agenda

  • Council will hold a public hearing on Resolution 51 25. The measure would allow limited residential uses in large master planned developments of 1,280 acres or more that are designated for Employment in the General Plan.
