The Buckeye City Council is set to tackle a packed agenda tonight, including major items related to water infrastructure, public safety funding, and development projects. The meeting, open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 530 E. Monroe Ave.
Key items on the agenda include:
- Water infrastructure and agreements: The council will vote on ratifying a $12 million grant agreement with the State of Arizona to fund water infrastructure in the White Tanks Service Area. Additionally, an interconnection agreement with EPCOR Water Arizona, Inc., which will outline the treatment and delivery of the city’s CAP water for up to 30 years, is also up for approval.
- Public safety investments: The council will consider two grant applications for the Buckeye Fire-Medical-Rescue Department. One seeks $139,319 for a new driver training program, addressing an experience gap among the department's personnel. The other requests $2.7 million to replace the city’s aging aerial ladder truck, critical for serving Buckeye's growing population and multi-story buildings.
- Development and community projects: A replat for the Verrado Victory District will dedicate additional right-of-way along Sunrise Lane, addressing a construction issue. The council will also vote on funding for the Economic Development Catalyst Program, which offers redevelopment grants to attract private investment in Buckeye.
Residents can also provide input during the public comment period and learn about council members’ ongoing priorities in their reports.
