A woman remains in critical condition following an off-roading crash in the West Valley over the weekend, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the area of Airport and Elliot roads, near the Salt River, around 6:30 p.m. Saturday after reports of a UTV rollover.

Officials said the adult female passenger suffered a skull fracture and was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery and remains in the ICU. The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.

MCSO said investigators found no evidence of impairment. Preliminary findings indicate the crash was caused by excessive speed while attempting a sharp turn.
