A Whataburger restaurant is in the works for the southeast corner of Verrado Way and Roosevelt Street, according to a development narrative filed with the city.
The 2,725-square-foot restaurant would feature a two-lane drive-thru, parking for 30 vehicles, and landscaping designed to blend with surrounding development. The project site is part of “The Mix,” a planned commercial center that will also include Chipotle, EOS Fitness and other shops.
Access to the site would be from Verrado Way and Roosevelt Street, with the restaurant’s main entrance oriented toward a parking lot. The drive-thru lanes would run along the south side of the building.
According to filings, the restaurant design will rely on corporate Whataburger standards while meeting Buckeye’s design guidelines for commercial centers. Plans include landscaped medians, walkways, and an interior layout with space for both food preparation and indoor seating.
The site falls within the Buckeye Gateway Activity Center, an area identified in the city’s 2040 General Plan for research, employment, retail and entertainment uses serving the West Valley.
The proposal, submitted Aug. 19 by Sustainability Engineering Group, is under city review.

we will be very happy to get a Whataburger in Buckeye. Right now we have to go to Goodyear to order from a Whataburger. One of the better fast food places.
Whataburger treat their employees like crap.
