Traffic stop leads to seizure of 210 pounds of meth

A traffic stop near Interstate 10 led Buckeye police to seize approximately 210 pounds of methamphetamine Tuesday.

According to the Buckeye Police Department, officers stopped a driver on Perryville Road near I-10 for a traffic violation. Based on information gathered during the stop, officers requested assistance from K9 Echo, who alerted to the vehicle.

A subsequent search uncovered approximately 210 pounds of methamphetamine concealed inside duffle bags.

Due to the size of the seizure, Buckeye police said the investigation remains ongoing in cooperation with federal law enforcement partners. Additional information about the driver, potential arrests, and criminal charges has not yet been released.

InBuckeye has requested further information from the Buckeye Police Department, along with available dash-camera or body-camera footage showing the arrest and discovery of the drugs. We will provide an update when that information is received.
