A new 1.7 million-square-foot Ross Stores distribution center celebrated its grand opening in Buckeye today.
Ross Stores paid $28.3 million for the 224-acre site in 2022. The facility is on the southwest corner of Southern Avenue and Watson Road, across from the Walmart distribution center.
Ross Stores currently operates distribution centers in Arizona, South Carolina, California, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Originally expected to be completed in early 2024, the center is expected to employ more than 1,300 people, according to city documents.
Buckeye’s Ross distro center is expected to supplement the supply nationwide. The store offers discounted clothing and housing trinkets. Ross secures low-priced goods through innovative manufacturer sourcing, chiefly from overstocked or closeout sources.
A lone Ross site lead cut the center’s ribbon at the direction of a PR rep. Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn and two city councilmembers offered no words or comments at the ribbon cutting.
