Police arrest Buckeye man allegedly protecting his turf, brandishing gun. Drugs recovered

A Buckeye man was arrested June 10, after he allegedly brandished a gun at a resident in his neighborhood, leading to an apparent cocaine and marijuana drug seizure.

Buckeye police responded to the victim’s call of a man who claimed someone was brandishing a weapon at the cul-de-sac near the 239th Drive and Hopi Street, about a half mile from Fry's on Watson Road. Video evidence suggests the man also reportedly followed the victim's car as he fled the area, according to the police report.

According to the victim’s account, the suspect allegedly asked the victim “if he knew what neighborhood he was in,” according to the police report. After asking the victim that question, the suspect allegedly left and then returned and pointed a gun at the victim with his right hand while holding his steering wheel with his other hand, according to the police report.

Officers located a vehicle that matched the description of a car. Police conducted a high-risk stop and detained the driver, identified as Devon Damont Wall, 26, who matched the victim's description.

According to the Buckeye police report, officers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Later that day, the victim positively identified Wall as the individual who had allegedly pointed a gun at him from the white Impala earlier that day.

Wall was arrested and transported to the Buckeye Police Department, where he was read his Miranda rights. Buckeye police said he denied involvement in the gun threat but confirmed seeing the victim.

A search warrant executed on the vehicle uncovered a backpack containing approximately 1.65 pounds of marijuana, 5 grams of a white powdery substance, which field-tested positive for cocaine, according to the report. Police also recovered a digital scale, ashtray, and cigarillos. No firearm was found. Wall’s wallet was also impounded and contained .75 grams of a similar white substance.

Wall faces multiple charges, including drug possession with intent to distribute and potential charges related to the alleged assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation remains ongoing.
