The Maricopa County Department of Transportation will close Perryville Road over the Buckeye Canal beginning at 6 a.m. Monday for bridge maintenance expected to last about six weeks.
The closure, which affects the stretch of Perryville south of Broadway Road, is necessary to remove and replace the bridge’s asphalt surface, apply new epoxy coating to concrete slabs and improve pavement markings.
Crews will work weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no weekend work anticipated. The project is scheduled through early November, though officials cautioned the timeline could shift depending on weather or other conditions.
Traffic will not be allowed through the work zone, and detours will be marked. Drivers north of the canal can access Perryville via Broadway Road from Jackrabbit Trail. Those south of the canal can use Southern Avenue from Jackrabbit Trail.
Officials asked drivers to slow down in work zones for the safety of crews.
