Buckeye-based charter network credits local relationships and its community-focused model for continued growth.
The Odyssey Preparatory Academy Family of Schools says enrollment continues to grow while many Arizona schools face declining student counts.
Odyssey announced the trend Friday. “When schools grow during a statewide downturn, it is a direct reflection of trust,” co-founder and Executive Director Megan Olson said. Olson said families want stability, local connections, and schools designed around their children. She also credited Odyssey’s community-based approach for attracting and retaining families.
Odyssey began in the West Valley and plans to remain focused on the region. The network says it shapes programs around local families instead of importing a standardized model from another market.
According to Odyssey’s website, the network operates five campuses and educates approximately 3,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Odyssey opened its first school in 2009 with more than 400 students in a Buckeye strip mall. The school moved to its Apache Road campus in 2010 with 600 students.
