A shooting inside a Sienna Hills home early Thursday killed a man and wounded his 17-year-old daughter, according to the Buckeye Police Department. A Buckeye police sergeant detained a man in his 20s within minutes of the early-morning gunfire.
Police received reports of shots fired shortly before 1 a.m. near Sienna Hills Parkway and McDowell Road.
A Buckeye police sergeant had just finished her shift and was driving nearby in uniform and in a marked patrol vehicle. She responded to the home and detained a man in his 20s within minutes.
Additional officers found the 17-year-old girl suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers treated her until paramedics arrived and took her to a hospital. Police said her injuries were not life-threatening.
Officers then entered the home and found the girl’s father suffering from gunshot wounds. Police pronounced the man, described as being in his 30s, dead at the scene.
Investigators said the victims and the detained man all lived at the home. Police believe an argument occurred before the man reportedly opened fire.
Police have not identified anyone involved or said whether the detained man is related to the victims. The investigation remains ongoing.
