Buckeye’s congressional rep endorses Biggs for governor at Turning Point event

Rep. Paul Gosar, Buckeye's Republican U.S. congressman, endorsed congressional peer, Rep. Andy Biggs, for governor at a Turning Point Action event in Phoenix over the weekend.

Gosar, who's worked alongside Biggs for the better part of the decade, referred to Biggs as his friend who'd work nonstop for Arizonans.

"No one works harder for the American people in Arizona than Andy Biggs does in Congress. And Andy will work tirelessly for Arizonans as the next governor of this great state," Gosar said. "He will work with President Trump to get control of our southern border. He will improve our schools and educational system. He will finally get our water infrastructure in place. With Andy as our next governor, I am confident he will make Arizona great again."

Gosar and Biggs are members of the House Freedom Caucus, a congressional caucus of Republican members of the United States House of Representatives who are generally considered to be the most conservative.

Other current and former Freedom Caucus members attended the GOP event, including U.S. Reps. Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz and Eli Crane.

Biggs walked the event without staff and riffed with attendees before and during his speech.

On the stage, he made lofty promises like eliminating income taxes and creating more jobs.

“We're going to help all Arizonans, one way that we're going to do that is to eliminate the income tax,” Biggs said. “With you keeping more money in your pocket. and the Big, Beautiful Bill and the tax package [in U.S. congress] that's going to benefit people from all economic demographics…. this state is going to zoom in prosperity. There are businesses that fly over us to go to Texas or Florida because of our income tax, they will come here, and we will see more jobs available.”

Biggs also promised to give Arizona the strongest border security in the nation.

"We're going to work with our sheriffs, our tribes, our local law enforcement officers, our magnificent DPS, and we will prevent the cartels from their evil, human child and drug trafficking, which is a destructive plague in Arizona and America," Biggs said.

Both Gosar and Biggs were allies of President Donald Trump during the 2020 congressional election certification, when they notably questioned the legitimacy of Trump's loss.

Biggs received a B.A. in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University, his M.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University, and his J.D. from the University of Arizona.
