Buckeye is ranked No. 2 in a new list of the top 50 U.S. suburbs with the greatest potential for growth and affordable home prices.
That makes it “a rising suburb” near Phoenix, according to an Aug. 28 GOBankingRates.com data study and ranking of American cities.
The website’s list was intended to help identify suburbs where people can still buy an affordable home.
Another Arizona city ranked in the top 10 was the south Phoenix suburb of Maricopa at No. 7.
“Suburbs are often popular choices for people to live in, especially those with families, due to their wide variety of amenities, proximity to big cities without the hustle and often more affordable home prices,” the website states. “However, many suburbs suffered after the pandemic, and if you’re moving to one, you want to be sure you’re picking one that has growth potential but still has affordable homes.”
Buckeye's July home value averaged $407,118 compared to $449,719 across the Phoenix metro.
GOBankingRates.com analyzed key data points like the population change between 2020 and 2022 and focused on cities with a 9% or greater change in population in those same years. The suburbs also had to have a July home value below $500,000.
No single region of the country turned up as the leader.
Other Arizona cities ranked in the study:
- Goodyear was ranked No. 10 with an average home price of $483,000.
- 32 was Sahuarita, south of Tucson, with an average July home value of $366,500.
- 33 was Marana, a suburb north of Tucson, with a home value average of $442,000.
