Buckeye police have arrested a man accused of opening fire on a fellow motorcycle rider during a group ride and later leading officers on a chase before barricading himself inside a Glendale apartment.
Police said no one was injured in the shooting, which happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday near Jackrabbit Trail and Indian School Road.
According to investigators, a man told officers he was riding with a group when another rider began driving recklessly and was asked to leave. The suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots before fleeing into a nearby wash.
Officers secured the scene and called in K-9 teams, drones and tactical units to search for the gunman. Police say the suspect later returned to the area in an SUV and yelled at the victim and witnesses. When officers tried to pull him over, he sped away eastbound on Interstate 10.
Detectives used surveillance tools and information from the suspect’s abandoned motorcycle to track him to an apartment near 95th Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale.
Officers arrested the suspect, identified as John Ramos, 42, without incident. He was booked into jail on multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder.
