The Buckeye City Council will hold its regular meeting Tuesday evening Dec. 3, marking the transition to newly elected officials and addressing key leadership appointments. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 530 East Monroe Avenue.
Outgoing council members from Districts 2, and 3, will adjourn their terms, paving the way for the oath of office ceremony for newly elected officials. Jamaine Berry (District 2), and Curtis Beard (District 3) will be sworn in for terms ending in 2028 along with Mayor Eric Orsborn and council member Tony Youngker (District 1), who were both re-elected to serve another four-year term each.
Following the swearing-in, the council will seat its new lineup and proceed to its first item of business: electing a vice mayor for the coming year. Per the city’s Code of Ordinances, the vice mayor acts as mayor during the mayor’s absence or disability and is elected annually by a majority vote of council members present. The council may opt to conduct runoff voting if no single candidate achieves a majority.
Public hearings and other business are also on the agenda, including an opportunity for the mayor and council to provide brief updates on current events and community initiatives. The city manager will also present a report summarizing key developments.
A reception will follow the meeting, allowing residents to engage informally with their elected officials. While a quorum of city council members may be present at the reception, no official business or voting will occur during this time, the agenda states. The meeting is open to the public, and accommodations are available for persons with disabilities upon request.
