The Buckeye City Council will hold a workshop on Tuesday beginning at 4:45 p.m. at Buckeye City Hall. The session will focus on a presentation and discussion about the update of the city’s Transportation Master Plan.

According to the workshop materials, the Transportation Master Plan was initially approved by the council in 2019 to support the Buckeye 2040 General Plan. The current update evaluates modifications to the roadway network to reflect changes that have occurred during the past five years.

Deputy Director of Transportation John Willett will lead the presentation. The city retained Wilson & Company to prepare the updated plan, which continues to guide Buckeye’s future transportation efforts. The revised plan covers areas including streets, freight, rail, aviation, transit, intelligent transportation systems, and active transportation such as biking and walking.

The workshop documents note that the update addresses modifications to land-use elements, roadway classifications, and network connectivity. It also incorporates recent studies from local, regional, and state agencies, introduces a new wildlife chapter, and updates implementation and funding options.

Following the workshop, the Transportation Master Plan will be released to the public for a 30-day review period beginning October 22. Staff will later bring the updated plan back to the council for discussion and possible adoption at a future meeting.

City officials confirmed there is no new financial impact tied to this update because funding was previously approved for the project.

The meeting is open to the public, and while a quorum of other city boards may attend, no voting will take place during the workshop.
