Morning election update: Municipal and State

Municipal and State Election Results

Voters across the state await election results on day seven of ballot counting.

In Buckeye, the race for city council inches forward with preliminary results that place Jamaine Berry in the leader for District 2 and Curtis Beard in the lead for District 3.

District 2 Councilmember Election Results

The District 2 councilmember municipal election saw a competitive four-way race. The preliminary results:

  • Ryan Belshee: 27.52% - 235 votes
  • Jamaine Berry: 38.41% - 328 votes
  • Ted "Tedy" Burton: 21.43% - 183 votes
  • Steven Sterling: 12.65% - 105 votes

District 3 Councilmember Election Results

In District 3, Beard and Hess contended for the council seat, separated by 37 votes. The preliminary results:

  • Curtis Beard: 51.22% - 777 votes
  • Michelle R. Hess: 48.78% -740 votes

Proposition 481 Election Results

Proposition 481 was also on the ballot. The preliminary results:

  • Yes: 79.86% - 9,359 votes
  • No: 20.14% - 2,360 votes

State Representative and Senator races

On the state level for District 25, Democratic State Representative William "Bill" Peter Olear and Republican State Senator Timothy "Tim" Dunn ran uncontested for their seats.

Preliminary results for the Republican State Representative seat puts Michael Corbone in the lead as of this morning.

  • Michael Carbone: 37.75% - 10,731 votes
  • Nickolas "Nick" Kupper: 28:53% - 8,110
  • Steve Markegard: 15.4% - 4,377
  • Gary Garcia Snyder: 18.32% - 5,208

How much longer do we have to wait?

Maricopa County begins counting ballots on Election Day, posting initial unofficial results at 8 p.m. and updating those numbers daily as those data are received from polling locations. Results are not official until they are canvassed, and the official canvass and results files will be posted here once finalized and approved.
