Although the county hasn't canvassed results from the Nov. 5 election at this time, preliminary numbers suggest that Buckeye's newest District 2 councilmember will be Jamaine Berry and that the GO Bond is a go.
District 2: Jamaine Berry leadswith nearly 67% of the votes, 1,332 votes total. That's a 28% lead over competing candidate Ryan Belshee with 39% of votes, 864 total votes. The race for District 2 is a run-off election from the July 30 primary in which Berry also led. Neither candidate reached the required 51% threshold, however, resulting in the Nov. 5 run-off.
Prop 494: 62% of voters have given the green light with a yes vote on Prop 494 for the historic General Obligation bond, the city's first in nearly 40 years. Prop 494 designates bond dollars to public safety projects.
Prop 495: 64% of voters so far have additionally given approval for Prop 495, part of the GO Bond, with funding going to streets and transportation projects.
Further information will be provided as the results are canvassed.
