It's been 3 days since Buckeye residents took to the polls to vote.
Ballots are still being counted with the most recent update at 6:37 p.m. August 1, 2024, still showing a close race for District 3 between Curtis Beard and Michelle R. Hess, separated by just 26 votes. Jamaine Berry remains in the lead in District 2 with 38% of the votes.
District 2 Councilmember Election
The District 2 councilmember municipal election saw a competitive four-way race. The preliminary results:
- Ryan Belshee: 27.48% - 222 votes
- Jamaine Berry: 38.00% - 307 votes
- Ted "Tedy" Burton: 21.53% - 174 votes
- Steven Sterling: 13% - 105 votes
District 3 Councilmember Election
In District 3, Beard and Hess contended for the council seat. The preliminary results:
- Curtis Beard: 50.5% - 748 votes
- Michelle R. Hess: 49.5% -722 votes
Proposition 481
Proposition 481 was also on the ballot. The preliminary results:
- Yes: 79.98% - 9,179 votes
- No: 20.02% - 2,298 votes
How much longer do we have to wait?
Maricopa County begins counting ballots on Election Day, posting initial unofficial results at 8 p.m. and updating those numbers daily as those data are received from polling locations. Results are not official until they are canvassed, and the official canvass and results files will be posted here once finalized and approved.
