The Liberty Elementary School District Governing Board has approved Brandon Valdez as the next principal of Blue Horizons Elementary School.
The former Marine spent over a year as principal at Maxine O. Bush Elementary School in Phoenix before departing in January.
Valdez thanked the board for unanimously approving his hiring.
“I'm super excited,” he said. “I am deeply committed to education. I had my two kids come through Rainbow, and I also have my nieces and nephews at Rainbow Valley right now. So, I'm deeply committed to this community, and I am honored to have this opportunity to serve it.”
Liberty school board member and fellow veteran Bryan Cirrincione expressed his approval.
“I just want to say welcome and that I'm glad you’re here. Appreciate it,” he said.
Cirrincione served in the U.S. Army for two decades.
Valdez spent three years teaching before fast-tracking up to assistant principal at Amberlea Elementary School in Phoenix.
Before that, Valdez served in the U.S. Marines for four years.
