Buckeye Elementary School District will welcome two new school resource officers, provided through an agreement with the Buckeye Police Department. Thanks to funding from a Arizona Department of Education School Safety Program Grant, the district will pay the city just more than $348 thousand to provide two officers for the school year beginning in 2026.
"Having SROs at schools is beneficial for the safety of the students and faculty, as well as for the education of the students, as SROs are required to meet a set amount of law-related education hours," reads city documents. "Additionally, having officers assigned to the School frees patrol officers from having to respond to the School for a variety of calls for service. Finally, partnering with the District will result in reimbursable salary savings for the Buckeye’s Police Department.
