City plans to annex 5 residential acres

If all goes as planned, Buckeye will expand by approximately five residential acres on April 15.

Last night, Senior Planner Andrea Marquez led the first public hearing for the annexation at the regular city council meeting. The land, owned by Virgil and Connie Ezell, is located to the west of S. Apache Rd. and south frontage of E. Beloat Rd.. Currently, it is zoned as Rural 43 (R-43) and, upon potential annexation, it would be re-zoned to Residential 43 (R1-43) to align with the city's General Plan for land use which designates the area as a downtown Activity Center.

"The property is currently underdeveloped," said Marquez. "The goal for this area is to allow the future improvements to be managed and permitted through the city, ensuring alignment with the city Planning and Development standards."
