Police were called after the suspect’s daughters Facetimed their grandparents, who reported the shooting to police. The probable cause statement created by the arriving officer revealed that the children told their grandparents “their father had a gun, threatened to kill everyone, and shot a dog.”

The reporting party also advised police that the dog attacked a four-year-old, according to the report.

After being Mirandized, the suspect, John Daniel McCauley, 35, confirmed that a guest brought the dog over for a party thrown for his son. He also confirmed shooting the dog and putting the gun back upstairs, after the dog bit his 4-year-old in his backyard, according to the police report.

A neighbor’s doorbell camera caught the incident, and police collected the video as evidence. InBuckeye obtained that video in a records request.

  1. I agree the guy needs to be charged. But so do the owners of the dog who bit the kid. Poor judgement taking a bulldog to a party at someone else’s house.

  2. Man need to do jail time, he is unstable to be wielding a gun around like that. Wife needs to divorce that POS and keep her child away from him. He is unstable.
