Nathan Chaidez, 18, has been indicted on murder and aggravated assault charges by the Maricopa County Grand Jury for a car crash that resulted in the death of a teenager.
At approximately 10:15 p.m. on June 20, Chiadez was driving a black Dodge Challenger in the Verrado neighborhood at a high rate of speed when a Buckeye Police Department Officer initiated a traffic stop.
“The officer activated their emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop,” reads a BPD statement from the time. “The driver took off speeding and the officer lost sight of the car and deactivated the emergency lights.”
Just before 11 p.m., another officer located the same Challenger without headlights and speeding on southbound Verrado Way and began searching for the car. According to an Oct. 17 BPD press release, Chiadez topped speeds of more than 100 miles per hour before he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. Officers found the vehicle at that time. Chiadez turned himself into police, was arrested and booked into jail.
