Buckeye Police Department School Resource Officer David Ellison was arrested in Goodyear Oct. 28 on domestic violence charges.
Ellison was an SRO at Verrado High School for more than a decade. Another officer has been designated to fill his duties while he is placed on administrative leave pending investigation by the Goodyear Police Department.
He is being tried at Goodyear Municipal Court on one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of assault with intent or knowingly causing injury.
"These allegations are troubling and do not align with our core values of integrity, safety, respect and compassion," reads a statement from BPD. "Police officers, especially those tasked with the safety and welfare of students, must be held to the highest of standards. The Buckeye Police Department is committed to transparency throughout this process."
