A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a state trooper reported reckless driving on Interstate 10 near Palo Verde Road the night of Dec. 29.

According to the report, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper stopped the vehicle at Exit 109 after observing it speeding and driving erratically. During the stop, the trooper said the driver showed multiple signs of impairment and had open alcoholic beverage containers inside the vehicle.

The driver agreed to field sobriety tests and performed poorly, investigators said. A preliminary breath test showed a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.140. The driver was arrested and processed for DUI.

Authorities again reminded motorists to avoid drinking and driving and to designate a sober driver.
