Las Vegas murder suspect arrested in Buckeye

A man was arrested Sunday in Buckeye in connection to a Las Vegas murder.

According to a press release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, 37-year-old Frederick Lee Blanche Jr. was taken into custody and is being held in a local detention facility, awaiting extradition to Nevada. He will face multiple felony charges including open murder.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. Aug. 3, LVMPD responded to a shooting in an alleyway behind a business on West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas in which two victims were identified, both with gunshot wounds. The female victim was pronounced dead on scene. The male victim was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to the press release.

"The investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the victims exited the business and were confronted by a male," reads the press release. "An argument occurred during which the male produced a handgun and shot the victims. This is an ongoing investigation."
