Former high school swim coach David Laudati, 41, was arrested yesterday on voyeurism charges. Laudati is accused of filming minor students in restrooms.
According to Buckeye Police Department, three victims have been identified between the age 14 and 17.
On Sept. 9, 2023, a parent reported to BPD that their 14-year-old daughter found a cell phone in the Center on Main recreation facility bathroom while she was changing following an Arizona Dolphins game coached by Laudati. He also coached Goodyear's Millennium High School swim team at the time.
"The teen found the cell phone inside a mesh pocket on Laudati’s backpack which was left on top of a changing table," a press release states. "The phone screen was reportedly on and displaying what the camera was capturing."
A search warrant was served at Laudati’s Goodyear home on Sept. 11. His cell phone and other electronics were seized and forensically analyzed revealing "several photos showing female minors partially undressed or nude in the Center on Main restroom and the Litchfield Park Recreation Center locker room."
A Maricopa County grand jury indicted Laudati July 16 on eight charges of attempting to commit voyeurism and 11 counts of voyeurism. He was then arrested Monday in Newington, Conn., and will be extradited to Maricopa County.
"Buckeye police applaud the courageous teen and her family who made the initial report, launching a months-long investigation," reads the BPD press release. "From there, detectives worked to gather evidence to get justice for her and other victims. We thank the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance in apprehending the offender."
