A 12-year-old Buckeye girl was arrested yesterday on felony charges of terroristic threatening.
The South Milwaukee Police Department, Wis., contacted Buckeye Police Department regarding a school threat investigation. The IP address linked to the terroristic threat's origin was connected to a Buckeye address.
"Buckeye police officers went to the home where they interviewed a 12-year-old female subject and recovered evidence," BPD said in a news release.
The child did not make threats against Buckeye schools, according to BPD, stating that the Buckeye "community is not in danger."
This follows the arrest of two students in connection to a series of social media posts threatening school shootings. The threats were ultimately found to be noncredible, however, the students will face criminal charges.
The first arrest involved a 13-year-old female student from Bales Elementary School. BPD was alerted by a tip from the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center about a threat made by the student. Detectives were able to locate and arrest the student, who now faces criminal charges.
The second incident occurred at Buckeye Union High School, where a student claimed on social media they had seen a gun in a school bathroom. The post led to the school being held, and multiple officers were dispatched to investigate. It was later determined that the report was false, stemming from a text message received from another student. The 17-year-old male student who sent the original message was arrested and faces criminal charges and school disciplinary action.
