“Hello everyone! I am organizing a Candlelight Vigil for my son and other Missing Americans,” Robinson said in a social media post. “I would appreciate your help in making this event a reality. Robinson went missing in Buckeye in June 2021. Nearly a month later, police found the 24-year-old's abandoned car, and later a skull, which was curiously not identified as Daniel's. Robinson and Gabby Petito’s father, Joseph Petito, led a search for Robinson's missing son on April 12.

Robinson has spent years trying to find his missing son, a Black man, and pleading with local law enforcement officials to conduct more investigations.

Robinson’s website is soliciting event donations and speakers of “families who are interested in telling their missing loved one’s story.”

David is running for Congress as a Democrat in South Carolina with some focus on addressing missing Americans, as a political platform, according to his campaign site.

Robinson was defeated in November in his initial run for South Carolina’s second congressional district. U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, a Republican, secured 59% of the vote, defeating Robinson by 68,529 votes, according to Ballotpedia.

Wilson raised $880,967 in the year before the election, while Robinson’s PAC, “David Robinson II for Congress,” raised $13,806.

Every year in June, Robinson holds candlelight vigils to keep Daniel Robinson's story public.
