Verrado High School to host camp invention for young innovators

Local students will get the chance to dream up big ideas and tackle hands-on STEM challenges when Camp Invention returns to Buckeye this summer.

The National Inventors Hall of Fame is bringing its popular Camp Invention: Discover program to Verrado High School from July 14-18. The camp will run daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 20050 W. Indian School Road.

The weeklong program is open to children entering grades K-6, with a registration fee of $275. Older students entering grades 7-9 can sign up as Leaders-in-Training for $175, building leadership skills while mentoring younger campers.

Each day, campers will dive into activities that spark curiosity and creative thinking, including designing mechanical claw machines, experimenting with optical illusions, inventing high-tech road trip gadgets and developing eco-friendly prototypes inspired by penguins in Antarctica.

Organizers say the camp, created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, aims to help kids build confidence, resilience and real-world problem-solving skills in a fun, hands-on setting.
