U.S. Bank eyes Buckeye Commons retail location

U.S. Bank is proposing the construction of a new, 3,953-square-foot ground-up branch by Costco, near the intersection of Verrado Way and Roosevelt Street, according to city records obtained by InBuckeye.

According to its business application, the proposed site will include two drive-thru lanes, one for a remote teller or night drop and one for an ATM, in the Buckeye Commons retail development, just south of the city’s Verrado community.

According to its website, this will be the first stand-alone U.S. Bank branch in Buckeye. The bank currently has one in-store Fry’s branch in Buckeye.

Business Insider recently reviewed U.S. Bank and found it to be one of the best mortgage lenders for first-time buyers. The group notably highlighted its compatibility with student loan borrowers looking to get mortgages and its income-driven repayment plan.

The branch is known for offering in-person mortgage officers at retail branches, according to BI.

The physical location positions U.S Bank to install a brand alongside Buckeye’s new expanding city center in one of the fastest-growing new-build cities in the valley.

COVID-19-era restrictions accelerated closures and shifts towards online banking. Customers still visit physical branches for services like deposits and loan applications.

U.S. Bank is among a group of banks that have planned a wave of closures, with more than 40 locations set to shut down operations this year, according to filings with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
