On Dec. 30, the Arizona Highway Patrol received a notice from the Paradise Valley Police Department regarding a missing elderly woman exhibiting early signs of dementia.
According to a statement from the Arizona Department of Public Safety the woman had not been seen for about 12 hours.
Based on provided information, troopers located the woman's vehicle as it traveled from Paradise Valley through the streets of northern Phoenix and then continuing into Buckeye.
"While canvassing the area with the Buckeye Police Department, Troopers observed taillights in a muddy field west of MC-85 and Turner Road," a post on social media stated. "Tire tracks indicated the vehicle had driven off the roadway at a dead end and continued roughly 1,700 feet into the field before becoming stuck. The vehicle had narrowly avoided entering an active canal."

"She stated she had been attempting to locate a hospital in Scottsdale when she became disoriented," the post statedf.

Troopers carried the woman about 500 feet to the nearest paved roadway, where Buckeye Fire Department personnel evaluated her and Arizona Fire and Medical Authority transported her to a local hospital, officials stated.
"Paradise Valley PD notified the woman’s family of her recovery, and they were later reunited," the post stated.
