The new budget allocates $362 million for capital projects. Critical infrastructure investments include $18 million for a new Police Communication Center, $15 million for Jackrabbit Trail improvements, and $14 million for the Miller Road expansion. Additionally, $58 million has been allocated for the Farallon Water Campus and $21 million for wastewater improvements.
New Property Tax Rate and Bond Proposals
Buckeye will have a reduced primary property tax rate of $1.60 per $100 assessed value. In addition, two bond measures will appear on the November 2024 ballot to fund public safety and transportation improvements, with a planned tax rate cap of $2.25 combined with existing levies.
Significant Investment in City Personnel
The city plans to add 66 full-time positions (FTEs) in FY 2024-25. Public Safety will see the largest increase, with 12 new positions in the Police Department and four in the Fire Department. Other departments like Development Services and Public Works will also see additional staffing to manage the city’s growth.
