A substitute teacher was arrested Monday on a felony charge related to punching an Odyssey Prep Academy student during class.
The assault was reported to a Buckeye Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to the campus on Apache Road.

Sarah Short, 54, was charged with aggravated assault on a minor.
The SRO learned there was an argument between the teacher and a student that occurred while the teacher was instructing a class of 5th-graders Monday, according to the Buckeye Police Department..
That’s when the teacher hit the 10-year-old male student in the back, according to a prepared statement from the Buckeye Police Department. The student did not require medical attention.
Short left the campus before officers arrived, according to BPD
Buckeye police contacted her later that day at her Goodyear home, where she was arrested and booked.
