A multi-agency traffic enforcement operation across key West Valley corridors led to hundreds of stops and citations on Friday as part of a statewide safety initiative aimed at reducing dangerous driving.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Arizona Highway Patrol troopers assigned to the Motors Unit partnered with Buckeye officers and several other local departments for a coordinated “Speed Task Force” detail. The enforcement focused on stretches of Loop 303 between Interstate 10 and Happy Valley Parkway, as well as Interstate 10 between Loop 303 and Loop 101.

The operation was conducted under the umbrella of the “Arrive Alive Arizona” campaign, which targets speeding, impaired driving, and other high-risk behaviors, according to the Arizona Highway Patrol.

Agencies participating in the effort included police departments from Avondale, Buckeye, El Mirage, Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria, Surprise and Phoenix.

By the end of the four-hour detail, officers reported:

  • 342 total traffic stops
  • 155 citations for speeding
  • 136 additional citations for other violations
  • 37 distracted driving citations
  • 2 criminal speed arrests
  • 1 DUI arrest

Officials say the goal of these high-visibility enforcement details is not only to cite violators but to increase awareness and encourage safer driving habits across the Valley.
