Someburros launched its newest restaurant in Buckeye on Friday with a VIP preview event filled with mariachi music, heartfelt speeches, and a packed dining room. The occasion marked the start of a two-day grand opening celebration for the beloved, family-owned Arizona chain.
Friday’s invite-only event welcomed media, city officials, and community leaders to the new location at 920 N. Verrado Way, where guests enjoyed signature Sonoran-style dishes, ribbon-cutting festivities, and a festive atmosphere ahead of the public grand opening on Saturday.
Mayor Eric Orsborn praised the Vasquez family for bringing their authentic, homegrown brand to the fast-growing West Valley city.

Founded in 1986 in Tempe, Someburros was built on recipes passed down from Nana Isabel and Tata Pancho Vasquez. Now in its third generation of ownership, the brand has become known for its made-from-scratch meals, community spirit, and signature hospitality.
“Growing up in Tempe, Buckeye was far. It was like on the way to Disneyland, like halfway there, not quite halfway,” said President and Owner Tim Vasquez. “What it’s grown into is incredible… just to have 6,500 residents just 25 years ago to now booming over 100,000 and soon to be 300,000, it’s totally blowing up.”
Vasquez thanked his parents, sister Amy, and longtime employees, many of whom started as teens and now help lead operations, for helping bring the Buckeye location to life. He also likened Buckeye’s growth and charm to his hometown of Gilbert.
“I feel that same feeling in Buckeye, where it’s a huge area, there’s a lot of industry going on, but you meet people, you shake their hand, you look them in the eye, and you feel like you’re in a small town,” he said.
Saturday’s public grand opening celebration, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., will feature family-friendly activities including live mariachi music from noon to 1 p.m., appearances by the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders and Big Red mascot in the morning, and meet-and-greets with “Nacho,” the Someburros burro mascot. The first 50 guests in line at 9 a.m. will receive a free Someburros insulated tumbler while supplies last.
This new Buckeye restaurant is the 17th Someburros location in Arizona, continuing the Vasquez family's nearly 40-year tradition of serving Sonoran-style Mexican food rooted in love, family, and community.
“Buckeye has such a strong sense of community and we couldn’t be more proud to become part of it,” Vasquez said. “We are excited to share our family’s recipes with this growing city and look forward to serving families and our neighbors for years to come.”
