Some residents can expect significant improvements — and temporary disruptions — as a major roadway reconstruction project continues on Roosevelt, Edison and Eason streets between 4th Street and Miller Road ion downtown Buckeye.

City officials said the project is designed to create a smoother, more durable driving surface while improving accessibility for all users. Plans include full roadway reconstruction as well as the installation of new ADA-compliant curbs.

To help reduce inconvenience, construction will be carried out in three phases through October. Work on Roosevelt Street began in March and is expected to end in May, followed by Edison Street which will end in July. The final phase will focus on Eason Street, running from July through October.

During construction, the affected streets will be closed to through traffic. However, officials emphasized that residents will continue to have access to their homes throughout the duration of the project.

What about garbage collection?

Sanitation services will also continue with slight adjustments. Residents should place trash and recycling containers at the curb by 5 a.m. on their designated collection day.

Construction crews will move bins to accessible areas for pickup and return them after they have been emptied.

Officials acknowledged the inconvenience but said the long-term benefits will outweigh the temporary disruptions.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to improve neighborhood infrastructure,” the project announcement stated.
