Two anticipated restaurants are expected to open in coming days, although one is prepping for some unwanted protestors.
PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, announced Friday it will protest in front of Raising Cane’s, scheduled to open on Monday.
Famous for its chicken fingers and other fried chicken meals, Raising Cane’s will open on North Veraddo Way south of Interstate 10 in the Roosevelt Commons shopping center.

“PETA asks anyone thinking of eating chicken to ask themselves if they can feel good about paying for outright cruelty and suffering, and turn right around,” said PETA President Tracy Reiman. “If you buy, they die, and you are subsidizing cruelty to animals when it’s so easy to go vegan.”
In an email to local media outlet on Friday, the special interest group stated it will come bearing yellow caution tape and will gather outside the restaurant hoping to “close it for cruelty.”
Regardless, Raising Cane’s said it hopes to move forward with plans to open Monday morning as scheduled.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and check presentation benefitting Verrado High School beginning at about 8:20 a.m., will spotlight “Cane’s commitment to supporting the Buckeye Community,” according to the company.
Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders are expected to turn up opening day energy from 8 to 9 a.m., bringing game-day spirit to Buckeye before Cardinals mascot Big Red swoops in from 10 to 11 a.m. for photos and high-fives.
Other opening day plans include a bag pipe performer from 8 to 9 a.m. A Cane’s branded trucker hat and a free Box Combo Card, valid on a future visit, for the first 100 Combos purchased in-restaurant. A DJ is scheduled to “keep the party going all day long starting at 7 a.m., spinning crowd favorites and fueling the opening day excitement,” according to restaurant officials.
“We’re excited to bring Cane’s to Buckeye and share our ONE LOVE with the community,” said Raising Cane’s Regional Leader of Restaurants Sara Roth. “From hand-battered Chicken Fingers to our signature Cane’s Sauce, our goal is to give Caniacs a place to enjoy great food, connect with friends and family and celebrate all that makes Buckeye special. We’re proud to create local jobs, support Community events and provide a welcoming space where residents can come together, make memories and experience the flavor and fun that Cane’s is known for.”
In-N-Out
The second of the two anticipated restaurants is the wildly popular In-N-Out Burger, which has yet to post an opening date, although signage is in place and the location is accepting job applications.
Residents can find more information on available jobs here.
