Public art projects to go before Community Services Advisory Board on Wednesday

A progress report of two significant public art projects will be presented on Wednesday when the Buckeye Community Services Advisory Board meets.

Progress on the Kinetic Artwork at Sundance Park, a project that will include moving pieces of sculpture, will be presented by Ilana Lydia Holden, Arts and Culture manager.

During the March 2 meeting of the Arts and Culture Subcommittee, discussion on the possible sculptures were presented by Boulder, Colorado-based artists George Peters and Melanie Walker.

According to the agenda of the upcoming meeting, a decision may be made on what exactly the sculptures would look like.

Additionally, Holden is expected to report on the Traffic Box Wraps, a project that includes local artwork featured on traffic signal boxes on corners around Buckeye.

Holden and the Arts and Culture Subcommittee, proposed several pieces of artwork during the March 2 meeting, but this will be the first time the proposed art goes before the full Community Services Advisory Board.

Wednesday’s meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Executive Conference Room at City Hall in downtown Buckeye.
