Buckeye police teamed up with Sundance Adult Village this week to host an information session about Buckeye Cares, a new free and voluntary program offering weekly wellness checks for local seniors.
The program is designed to ensure seniors who live alone or are homebound are safe and well.
Enrolled participants receive a weekly phone call from Buckeye police employees and trained volunteers at a day and time they choose. If three calls are missed in a single day, volunteers will contact the participant’s emergency contact. If the participant’s wellbeing cannot be verified, volunteers will make an in-person welfare check and, if needed, a police officer may respond and gain entry to the home.
Eligibility and enrollment
Buckeye Cares is available to seniors who live alone or are homebound and reside within Buckeye. To enroll, seniors must complete a registration form with household details, preferred contact time, and agree to the installation of a lock box on the property to store home keys. Participants may optionally provide medical information that could affect their care.
Completed forms can be emailed to program manager Karlie Conger at [email protected] or dropped off at the Buckeye Police Department, 21699 W. Yuma Rd., Suite 104, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday. Questions may be directed to Karlie Conger at 623-349-6435.
