Police investigating gunshot fired inside Walmart McDonald’s

Buckeye police are investigating a shots-fired incident today at the Walmart near Watson and Yuma roads.

Preliminary information shows a man in his 70s was sitting inside the McDonald’s restaurant within the store when he fired a handgun. Police said the shot appears to have been accidental.

The man was detained at the scene. No injuries were reported.

It was not clear if the man who allegedly fired the shot was booked on charges.

On the Buckeye AZ Police Department’s Facebook page, resident Kim Cottrell Tacker commented, “OMG, I had planned to go there for groceries this morning, but had a change of plans, thank goodness.”
