Early Wednesday morning, Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue crews contained a residential fire in the 22000 block of West Desert Bloom Street that was confined to the home’s kitchen, fire officials said.
First-arriving crews "initiated an aggressive fire attack" and brought the blaze under control within a short period, according to a prepared statement from Buckeye fire officials.
One resident suffered burn injuries and was transported to a local hospital; the extent of the injuries was not immediately available, accordign to Buckeye fire officials.
Three residents — two adults and one child — were displaced. A Buckeye Fire Department chaplain responded to assist the family and connect them with support resources. No firefighters were injured, accordign to Buckeye fire officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Officials reminded residents that working smoke alarms provide critical early warning and urged testing alarms monthly and installing them in every sleeping area and on every level of the home.
