The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Arson team is investigating a house fire that claimed the life of one person Wednesday.

MCSO deputies responded to a fire at 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of North Pima Road after a report of a residential fire “with occupants unaccounted for,” according to a statement for the sheriff’s office.

When deputies arrived, they found a home actively burning with flames visible through multiple windows.

Deputies secured the scene to facilitate “access for the Buckeye Fire Department,” according to the MCSO.

The Buckeye Fire Department extinguished the fire, but during the search of the scene, they found one person dead inside the home.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

The MCSO Arson Investigators have assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation.
