A series of privately owned aircraft hangars will be constructed at the Buckeye Municipal Airport, the result of high demand by local aircraft owners.
The executive box aircraft hangars will be constructed then sold to private owners, in most cases for the storage of corporate airplanes and jet aircraft.
A total of 12 new hangars will add to existing smaller T hangars at the airport.
A T hangar is built to fit the shape of an airplane, while a box hangar looks more like a traditional garage. The first box hangars will begin construction in six months and be finished in 18 months.
Buckeye Aviation Director Scott T. Gray said the demand for aircraft storage is high.
“We currently have over 70 people on our waiting list for T Hangars,” Gray said.
He said one of the next projects the airport will bring forward is a proposal to build more hangars “to bring our airport up to speed.”
