A second fatal crash was reported late Thursday night on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile marker 108, involving two semi-trucks, according to the Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department.
Fire officials said one patient was pronounced dead at the scene after being trapped inside a semi-truck, requiring an extensive extrication operation. Buckeye Ladder 707 crews initiated the rescue efforts, and Phoenix Heavy Rescue 44 was special-called to assist.
Two other patients sustained delayed injuries and were transported for medical care.
The incident caused significant traffic delays on eastbound I-10 as emergency crews worked the scene.
Authorities said the crash remains under investigation, and no further details were available.
